Olympic athlete and wife share emotional message after 19-month-old daughter drowned

The couple suffered the most tragic loss imagineable recently, and have taken to social media to thank the thousands of fans for their support during the awful time.

On June 10, Olympic skier Bode Miller and his wife, volleyball player Morgan Beck, faced an unthinkable tragedy. Their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline Grier Miller, fondly called Emmy, had drowned in a neighbor's pool.

Beck had been at the neighbor's house in Orange County, California, with the little girl that evening when her daughter was found unconscious in the pool, and emergency services were immediately called to the scene.

They transported her to Orange County hospital, but were unable to revive her, and pronounced her dead just a short time later.

The couple have since been inundated with love and sorrow from family, friends, and fans, who have messaged them to offer their support. Both Miller and Beck took to social media to thank everyone.

"We want to thank our friends, family and every one of you who sent a message, said a prayer or donated for the overwhelming expression of support - we are truly touched and blessed," they wrote.

In addition to the messages, their midwives had set up a GoFundMe pge where people could donate funds to them.

"We intend to donate these funds raised to worthwhile causes connected to water safety education. We are inspired to make our baby girls memory go forth and help prevent as many drownings as possible. We will post more soon on our plans and efforts," the caption continued.

Both Miller and Beck shared an image in their posts of them with their dear daughter, and posted the same message. Both received plenty of love on their update.

It was Miller who first confirmed the news of his daughter's tragic death via Instagram.

"We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday," he wrote.

The couple also share a 3-year-old son Nash, and Beck is currently pregnant with another. Miller has another 2 children from a previous marriage, 10-year-old Neesyn and 5-year-old Samuel.
