TV anchor learns of husband's death while reporting on it
The world is saluting the bravery of this newsreader who was committed to showing professionalism despite going through the biggest tragedy of her life.
According to a YouTube video uploaded by CNN, a brave news anchor from India, Surpreet Kaur, continued to read a news regarding an accident despite having just realized on-air that her husband was one of the people who died in the accident.
Despite the devastating heartbreak, she continued reading the news and finished her coverage of the deadly accident that claimed the life of her husband.
The tragic incident occurred while Kaur was reading the morning news bulletin for IBC24, an Indian News channel in Chhattisgarh state.
A reporter called in to inform about a deadly road accident. While he continued detailing the accident, Kaur grew increasingly suspicious that her husband, Harshad Kawade, might have been one of the victims in the crash.
Kaur's fears were confirmed when her husband's name finally came up. However, Kaur collected herself and continued reading the news. She even finished the coverage without letting anyone know about the grief she went through
Kaur broke down in tears after the broadcast was over as she informed everyone about the tragedy that struck her, the video further informed.
She later called the reporter back to know more details regarding the accident before finally informing her family about the death.
Kaur was married to her husband for just about 18 months. The lived in Raipur, the capital of the state of Chhattisgarh. The couple shares a young daughter.
According to the report, Kaur earned the huge respect and appreciation from people all over the country for showing great strength in dealing with her husband's demise and for her professionalism
The chief minister of Chhattisgarh took to Twitter to address her 'extraordinary bravery' while also paying his respect to her husband's departed soul.
The news further got shared among a large number of people through the chief minister, many of whom took time to pay their condolences to the anchor.
Dr. Dawn White wrote in the comment on Twitter that she was sorry for her loss. 'I can only imagine how hard it must have been to keep going. You are in my prayers, sweet lady,' she wrote.
Another Twitter user, Deepak Nath Poriha, wrote that the nation was 'proud' of Kaur's bravery and the determination toward her job.
