In a touching video, Today show host Kathie Lee Gifford revealed that it was faith and her purpose in life that got her through the passing of her husband of 29 years.

Television personality Kathie Lee Gifford opened up about her personal struggles with loneliness and loss on a video for I Am Second.

She revealed the aftermath of the tragic death of her husband Frank Gifford in August 2015. The couple had been happily married for 29 years before the former NFL player passed away at the age of 84.

Gifford opened up about the difficulty of dealing with loneliness and loss since her husband’s demise and shared that her faith became the source of hope in the troubling time.

She expressed her belief that it was important to find joy despite experiencing loss.

Gifford displayed her vulnerable yet strong-willed side when she spoke about her religious upbringing, the loss of her parents and life partner.

Adding that her children live in far-away cities, Gifford admitted that she often felt overwhelmed with sadness and having to live alone.

Describing the passing of her husband, Gifford shared that she has discovered on a beautiful Sunday morning that he had died, and in her view, he had transitioned to heaven.

She revealed that despite the loss, she felt a calming sense of peace, knowing that her beloved partner was in the care of Jesus.

Gifford also spoke about her children, sharing that they chose not to lose hope.

Despite the recurring thoughts of self-pity as a widow, Gifford stated that she constantly reminded herself to be grateful that her husband was in a much better place.

The Today co-anchor also explained that focusing on her loss came at the cost of neglecting what she still had in her life. She asserted that she had a purpose in life which kept her moving.

In the face of loss and adversity, Gifford stated that faith reassured her of her purpose and of the hope of accomplishing more and experiencing happiness.

In Gifford’s view, the choice of not giving up on joy marks the beginning of a blissful life. Saying this, she emphasized that she intended to engage deeply in her life’s purpose without wasting any time.
