The ‘Carpool Karaoke’ segment of The Late Late Show with James Corden has featured many iconic singers so far, and the latest addition to the star-studded list was legendary Beatles singer Paul McCartney.

McCartney and Corden drove around Liverpool as they engaged in a conversation that was a treat to McCartney fans.

As the duo crooned and chatted over a Beatles playlist on the stereo, they drove past a few spots that had special meaning to the singer.

Along their ride, they also stopped at a local barber shop and a bar to surprise people with a spontaneous performance. The star also autographed the sign on Penny Lane.

However, McCartney’s love for writing music materialized long before his Beatles years.

He revealed that he was 14 years old when he penned his first song titled I Lost My Little Girl.

McCartney seemed to remember every word of the song, and Corden was moved as he heard the legend revisit the song in his unmistakeably sweet voice.

Corden could not help but acknowledge that the song was nothing short of a hit record.

Packed with trivia, memories, and melodies, the episode revealed the candid, witty and philosophical side of McCartney, and at one point, Corden was holding back tears.

When Corden highlighted that there was an inherent positivity in many of McCartney’s lyrics, McCartney responded with a surprisingly touching anecdote.

Speaking of the song Let It Be, McCartney shared that he was once visited by his beloved mother in his dream, and in the conversation that ensued, his late mother assured him that everything would be alright.

In the dream, McCartney narrated, his mother asked him to let it be. That is what inspired the lyrics of the song, he revealed. As the song played on the stereo, Corden was left overwhelmed with emotion.

The video of the episode is one of the most popular ones in the Carpool Karaoke segment of Corden’s show, with over 14 million views on YouTube.

McCartney continues to be active in the music scene and released two new tracks on June 20 titled I Don’t Know and Come On To Me.
