'The Young and the Restless' star leaving hit series after more than 30 years

On Wednesday Eileen Davidson confirmed via social media that she was leaving The Young and the Restless. She’s been on the show since the 1980s.

In her Twitter post, the actress revealed that she wanted to have more control over her day to day life. She’ll only exit the soap in September.

For 30 years, Eileen Davidson, 59, starred as Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless (Y&R). She recently received a Daytime Emmy for the role.

The actress has starred on the show since 1984. According to her IMDb profile, she’s appeared in nearly 1,500 episodes.

She left the reality show after three seasons. At the time, she had announced in a statement why she was actually leaving the reality show.

The actress said, ‘After a lot of careful thought, I’ve decided because of my crazy schedules at The Young and The Restless, as well as Days of Our Lives, it’s best for me and my family if I step away from being a Housewife for now’

She teased fans that she might appear on the show from time to time just to see what the other women were up to. Davidson ended her statement by thanking her fans for their love and support.

Besides acting on Y&R, the mother of one has also starred on Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful. She is a four-time Daytime Emmy nominee and two-time winner for both Y&R and Days.

Davidson was born on June 15, 1959, in Artesia, California. She shares a son, Jesse Thomas Van Patten, 15, with husband Vincent Van Patten.
