The pop star's career milestone came with a stunning dress, an emotional speech about someone who didn't show up, and several moments that had people buzzing.

Miley Cyrus officially joined the ranks of Hollywood's most celebrated names on May 22, 2026, when she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. Her family showed up, and even a fashion icon flew in, but one very notable person stayed away. And netizens noticed!

A Dream She Described Years in the Making

When it was announced in July 2025 that Miley would be part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame class of 2026, she didn't hold back on what the honor meant to her.

She shared on X that when she first arrived in Los Angeles from Nashville as a young girl, her family used to stay at a hotel on Hollywood Boulevard. She recalled going on late-night walks with her father when no one would recognize him.

During this time, they used to have the gift shops entirely to themselves, where they would buy knockoff Oscars and Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. She added that getting cemented on that historic boulevard, surrounded by the very icons who inspired her, felt like an absolute dream.

"This moment will live forever, thank you to everyone in my life who made it possible. I am grateful to share this star with you."

And when May 22 arrived, she looked stunning, and so did most of her family.

The People Who Showed Up

For the event, Miley arrived in a vintage Atelier Versace gown from the fashion house's fall 2015 collection, chosen with obvious intention, given that fashion legend Donatella Versace was there in person.

The look was a sleeveless, woven, see-through dress that crisscrossed across her torso and fell into a lace skirt that swept the floor. Her blonde hair was worn straight with side-swept bangs, and the sheer design left her arm tattoos fully visible.

Among the other guests were Miley's sister Brandi Cyrus, her mother Tish Cyrus, boyfriend Maxx Morando, actress Anya Taylor-Joy, and radio personality Ellen K. Each brought their own energy to the red carpet.

While several people wore elegant ensembles similar to Miley's, Tish kept it relaxed in a black long-sleeve top, high-waisted pants, a gold chain-link belt, and heels, with sunglasses on.

Brandi went casual in a denim button shirt, knee-length black leggings, and simple heels. Morando wore a red T-shirt, black trousers, and black shoes with a sparkly buckle, rounded out with sunglasses.

The Person Who Didn't Come

Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley's father and a musician in his own right, was not at the ceremony. The two singers have had a public falling out over recent years, making his absence hard to miss.

But Miley brought him into the moment anyway. In her speech, she quoted him directly, "My dad used to say that a skyscraper starts with a jackhammer, so does a star on the Walk of Fame, by the way, and it's not about the force, but it's about the repetition. What feels so special to me about this star is that it's an accumulation of devotion."

Billy Ray then posted a photo of her with the star on Instagram, writing, "Congratulations @mileycyrus !!!! You look so beautiful and strong 💪…… and HAPPY 😊 ⭐️." The "Flowers" artist replied in the comments with four words: "love you ⭐️," effectively ending any kind of speculation over their relationship.

What Fans Had to Say

The public had plenty of opinions, and they weren't shy about voicing them. On Instagram, Billy Ray's absence was the first thing people clocked, despite the interaction between dad and daughter on his social media.

One commenter simply asked, "Where's Dad?" while another was more pointed, "Where's her no talent dad [sic]?"

Tish drew her own commentary too, with one person writing, "And the mom trying to look like a teenager," and another side-eyeing the overall vibe with just, "Sunglasses? Really."

Over on Facebook, the questions kept coming. One person wrote, "Love her dress. No Dad?" and another noted the gap between Billy Ray's public excitement and his no-show, "Her dad wasn't there, after posting he was so excited for her. Hmm."

Tish's look pulled attention to a separate Facebook post as well. One commenter wrote, "Her mom looks younger than her," and another echoed the sentiment, "Her mom looks like a sister...wow [sic]."

And this wasn't the first milestone Miley has celebrated this year. As previously reported, the singer and other familiar faces marked the 20th anniversary of "Hannah Montana" on March 23, as the franchise got a major new moment with "Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special."

The premiere event in L.A. brought some of the cast back into view, but some fans couldn't even recognize Rico Suave Jr.!

The special is now available to stream in the U.S. on Disney+ and Hulu, with international availability on Disney+, according to Variety.

It also takes Miley back to the iconic Malibu house set, including her character's famous rotating closet, while bringing in performances of "This Is The Life," "The Climb," and "The Best of Both Worlds," plus a never-before-heard original song.

Hosted by Alex Cooper, the special also includes appearances from Billy Ray Cyrus, Chappell Roan, and Selena Gomez, who reprised Alex Russo from "Wizards of Waverly Place" in 2024.

That warm, nostalgic tone carried into the celebration around the special, including the red carpet moments that gave fans a fresh look at stars they first met nearly two decades ago.

During this premiere, Miley even made a point of crediting Variety for helping make the special possible. Sadly, not everyone tied to the show could be there, which only made the cast's presence feel more noticeable.

Emily Osment, who played Lilly before later starring on "Young Sheldon" and now "Georgie and Mandie's First Marriage," shared an Instagram video with her co-star, Montana Jordan, and explained that she could not attend the red carpet and was not part of the special because she was filming.

Mitchell Musso was also not part of this reunion, but he still leaned into the anniversary in a heartfelt way. In an Instagram post filled with throwback pictures, he reflected on what the show meant to him and to the people who grew up with it.

"Hannah Montana wrapped around my heart and never really let go," he wrote, also recalling the grueling schedules and the constant need to memorize scripts.

Even with the cameras rolling, he and his castmates found time to joke around and learn about life together. Most importantly, he discovered that laughter is the best way to handle a hard day.

Billy Ray was part of the special, though not the red carpet, and Miley spoke openly about how meaningful it was to reunite with him on set. She joked that he appeared with a fresh look "thanks to moi," before getting more serious about why fans care so much when the two of them are together.

"I'm really excited for him to be here, because I know how much our relationship means to everyone that watched this show," she said, according to E! News. She added, "I think when me and my dad are good, people, they feel better. It just feels good when the Cyruses are getting along."

It was already a nostalgia-heavy event, but it also reminded fans how much personal history still surrounds the series and the people who made it.

Miley was also asked whether a reboot could happen, and her answer suggested nobody should hold their breath. "Girl, I'm already tired. This has already been a lot," she said.

Still, the lack of a reboot plan did not stop the event from making noise. Once new photos from the carpet started circulating, the conversation quickly shifted to how some of the stars looked now, with Miley Cyrus and Moisés Arias, who played Rico, getting especially strong reactions.
