Magic Johnson's son E.J. turns heads in white high-slit skirt and Princess Diana t-shirt
After turning 26, EJ Johnson is looking better than ever. His levels of confidence only seem to increase with every new outfit he rocks out, as he keeps on breaking society’s gender standards with his daring fashion style. The boy recently opened up about his father’s reaction after learning he was gay.
E.J Johnson would never pass as the son of a basketball star a few years ago, but luckily for him and his family, we live in times where diversity is not frowned upon, at least not by the majority. The young man is the only son of Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie, and even when his parents signed him up for baseball lessons when he was a child, he would prefer to play with the flowers in the fields.
He’s known these days for his daring fashion style and outspoken personality. E.J can rock anything he wears, from a classic “men look” to a dress, skirts, high heels and plunging tops, often considered too feminine for a man to wear.
However, E.J has taken upon himself the responsibility to represent gender fluid people in the fashion industry. His androgynous style turned him into one of the most important young names in the entertainment industry, and everyone wants to count on his presence whenever they want to show off diversity and inclusion.
In one his most recent posts on Instagram, E.J turned heads, as usual, wearing a high waisted white skirt with a slit that put his toned legs on display, a graphic tee with an image of Princess Diana, white ankle boots and a silver belt to hug his waist.
Last week, an interview E.J and his mother Cookie did for Jada Pinket Smith’s Facebook Watch’s show “Red Table Talk” hit the internet. In the episode, E.J opened up about his coming out and how it affected his father.
Cookie admitted she had noticed her son was different when he was only three years old. The boy, she said, wanted to play with princess dresses and often stole her high heels and clothes. However, she thought it was only a phase, and it will pass. But it didn’t, and by the time he was 15. E.J had already accepted his sexuality.
After a family trip to Hawaii, Cookie and her son had “the talk,” and she embraced him, assuring him she would always love him no matter what. But for Magic, a former NBA player, things weren’t that easy at first.
“My husband is the type of person, he reacts quickly, so everything that came to the top of his head, he just let it out,” Cookie said. “And I was like, it hurt my feelings and I know it probably hurt his feelings when he'd go, ''It's not what I wanted for my son and do you realize what you're saying because the world is not going to like that and do you want to live this life?''
After a heartfelt conversation with her husband, Cookie was able to make Magic see he was too harsh. The next day, the man visited E.J in his room, and after reassuring him they would overcome the situation, they cried together.
Even though it took some time for Magic to get used to the reality, he has been nothing but supportive of his son since then. Speaking to Ellen De Generes on her show, the Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner said:
“You got to support your child because many people are trying to discriminate against them, so they need you to support them. Because if you don’t support them, who’s going to support them and love them?”
