She grew up singing with her seven brothers and two sisters in the Winans family. Her parents made sure each brought them up in the Christian faith which led them to sing gospel music.

Her oldest four brothers became the award-winning group The Winans. While she and her brother BeBe Winans became a popular duo and, later, they became successful solo artists.
Winans’ two younger sisters are also recording artists too. By the age of 17, she had graduated from high school and had enrolled in beauty school.
Recognizing her musical talent, her mother and father allowed her to move with BeBe to North Carolina so they could sing on the PTL Show. One weekend, when she and BeBe were visiting Detroit, the family went bowling with a few friends.
Included in the group was a new acquaintance who would later become her husband. Love explained, "Ronald, CeCe's second-oldest brother, had befriended me at church because I was a baby in Christ."
"When you meet one of the Winanses, eventually you meet the rest. That's what happened with CeCe," he said.
Winans confessed that when she met Love they didn't talk that night. She found him cute but her mind was on singing instead of dating.
Despite the lack of conversation, Love found that Winans had made a big impression on him. The next morning at church she walked toward him with a smile and he thought she was really pretty.
A few months later her brothers convinced him to go down to Charlotte with them to see PTL. In North Carolina, they all did things together explained Winans.
Love joked around like he was one of her brothers, not like someone she didn't know. The night before he had to return to Detroit, he phoned her saying he needed to talk before leaving.
Love and Ronald went to her apartment and her brother fell asleep on the couch. She and Love talked all night and Winans was shocked to find out that he was 33-years-old.
Despite their vast age difference (Winans was 17 at the time), the two fell in love. “By then I felt so strongly that she'd be my wife. I even told her, 'We're going to get married next year,'" Love confessed.
The rest was history and on June 23, 1984, the pair married and have been together ever since.
