Beyoncé & Jay-Z drop new joint album which addresses infedility & celebrates love

The couple surprises the world with their first album together that reveals a lot about their life, marriage and careers.

Right smack in the middle of the European leg of their ‘On The Run II’ tour, Beyonce and Jay-Z surprised the world with their first joint album which was released on Saturday exclusively on Tidal.

The much awaited collaboration of the power couple titled “Everything is Love’ is a 9-track album celebrating Black culture as only the Carters can. Both superstars share vocals in each of the songs that touch on Black love, police brutality, mass incarceration and other Black-related themes. The lyrics have also been talked about due to its reference to cheating, forgiveness and love, themes reflective of the couple’s marriage.

Beyonce took to Twitter to announce their album’s release while revealing the premiere of a Tidal-exclusive track, “Salud” which is not carried on the album.

A video for the album’s lead single ‘Apeshit’ was also revealed and it showcased Black and African culture as the couple make their way through The Louvre in Paris complete with Black female dancers in custom designer looks.

Currently a subject of interest are the lyrics in the album which appear to be sharing glimpses into the couple’s life and marriage. In the song ‘Love Happy’, Beyonce and Jay-Z address the cheating scandal that rocked their marriage last year. The songstress sings,

“Yeah, you f–ked up the first time, we had to get remarried.”

She adds after Jay-Z’s rebuttal,

“We keepin’ it real with these people, right? Lucky I ain’t kill you when I met that b—”

The chorus says it all – the cheating, the forgiveness and the love that ultimately still binds them both.

“You did some things to me, boy you do some things to me / But love is deeper than your pain and I believe you can change / Baby, the ups and downs are worth it, long way to go, but we’ll work it / We’re flawed but we’re still perfect for each other / Sometimes I thought we’d never see the light / Went through hell with heaven on our side / This beach ain’t always been no paradise But nightmares only last one night (Happy in love).”

Other songs allude to other issues pertaining to their career and success making this album one of their most revealing yet.

Also making a cameo in one of the tracks titled ‘Boss’ is their 6-year-old daughter Blue Ivy who towards the end of the song, makes a surprise shout out to her one-year-old twin siblings Rumi and Sir.
