This year’s ACM Awards were one for the records, as it made country star Miranda Lambert the most awarded artist in the history of country music. Lambert's award count has now gone up to 31, breaking the tie she had with Brooks & Dunn.

However, in the singer's view, the awards were only part of her musical journey that had humble beginnings.

In a revealing interview with HITS Daily Double, Lambert confessed that her awards were a reminder of all the sacrifices she has made for music.

She often fondly remembered the time when she first came to Nashville with nothing but a few boxes of personal belongings, which she opened only once she could afford to buy a house.

She admitted that she has put her soul into the songs she has written, and that has helped her overcome all the difficulties life has thrown at them.

The singer’s 2016 album The Weight of the Wings, now platinum, was the singer’s way of coping with her divorce and moving on.

Lambert's very public divorce with fellow country star Blake Shelton and his subsequent relationship with Gwen Stefani was an extremely difficult time for her.

She confessed that she felt insecure and wanted to make sure that the media did not twist her words or take them out of context in regards to Shelton or Stefani.

As hard as it was to write songs about the incident, her views and emotions were already in song and she did not want to talk about them anymore.

As a result, she refrained from doing any pre-release interviews for the album and was also sceptical about talking to the media post the release.

However, all is not lost as the Tin Man singer went on to say that one of the best things to happen to her was her music group, Pistol Annies.

Lambert equated the music of the group to a musical slumber party and dedicated all her awards to her band and her parents, who made her dream possible.
