Gabby Sidibe turns heads in violet mini dress in new photo with 'gangsta' friend

The American actress has been working to try and lose some of her weight, sharing plenty of update photos to her social media accounts, among her many other relaxed photos.

Gabourey Sidibe is one of the most outspoken and charismatic actresses of her generation, and she made her acting debut in Precious, for which the actress won the 2009 Academy Award for Best Actress.

But while shes enjoying a successful career, things in her personal life with regards to her health are not nearly as good. The star suffers from diabetes, and is desperately overweight, adding to the strain on her blood sugar levels.

In order to cope with her diabetes, Sidibe had to undergo laparoscopic bariatric surgery in May 2016. Her brother, Ahmed, also underwent the same surgery for his own type 2 diabetes

Speaking to Refinery29 in 2017, Sidibe shared that the reason she had gone under the knife was because she didn't want to have to concern herself with what the diabetes could do to her body.

"It just annoys me because I’m just like, don’t congratulate me on that. If you’re going to congratulate me on my weight loss, also congratulate me every time I pee. Congratulate me every time I’m burping," she told the publication.

Among her images that show her weight loss, Sidibe also shares plenty of fun and flirty photots.

A recent one that she shared for a friend's birthday sees her and her friend stirking a funny pose in the mirror. In the image, Sidibe wore a short purple dress and had long dark braids in her hair. The actress also posed with her finger in the air.

Her friend wore a short denim skirt, a black t-shirt, and a pair of long black boots.

"While it’s still daylight, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the sweetest, flyest, most gorgeous gangsta I know," Sidibe started the caption. "I love you so much. I love who you are, who you were and who you are becoming. I see so much of God in you. I see dreams and miracles and goals set and accomplished in you. I see majesty. These 30 years of yours, might as well be 300 years( Let Dale tell it ). I cant wait to see what you do with another 30. Happy Birthday My love!"

Within less than 24 hours, the post had over 11,000 likes. Plenty of the actress' followers also decided to take to the comments section to share their own birthday wishes.
