Famous country star announces engagement to longtime boyfriend

On Saturday, country singer Lauren Alaina took to social media to share the good news that she and longtime boyfriend, Alex Hopkins, were finally engaged. The pair met in 2012.

On Instagram, the singer shared a picture of herself and her fiancé kissing. Her engagement ring was visible on her left hand.

Her fiancé, Alex Hopkins shared the same picture on his Instagram. He captioned it, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you for the first time, the future Mrs. Lauren Hopkins.’

They started dating when they were just 17. The former American Idol runner-up met Hopkins in October 2012, after she had already finished the show and signed her first record deal.

According to Taste of Country, the singer said she and Hopkins had spoken about getting married throughout their relationship. “I love him,” she said.

She shared that he was her best friend and was like an actual angel on earth. “He’s the most attractive man I have ever seen,” the star confessed.

Alaina admitted that he became more attractive to her the older they got. “I’m starting to be like, ‘Glad we met at 17 because you are way cuter than me,'” she stated.

However, before she met Hopkins, American Idol famously tried to get her to date fellow season 10 co-star Scotty McCreery. The show was even behind the kiss between the two.

Despite that, McCreery recently married his girlfriend and him and Alaina have remained close friends. The country music singer released her sophomore album Road Less Traveled in early 2017.

She had a No. 1 single with the song of the same name, which she wrote with Meghan Trainor and Jesse Frasure. The album’s third single Doin’ Fine was released and the fourth one will be Three.
