Former 'American Idol' winner Ruben Studdard mourns his brother's sudden passing in a post
American R&B and gospel singer Ruben Studdard, best known as the winner of the second season of American Idol, took to Instagram to mourn the loss of his brother.
In the image, Ruben was posing next to his brother Kevin wearing football jerseys with the number 72 on them. Kevin was side-hugging Ruben while wearing beige shorts. The singer put on black shorts and sunglasses.
For the caption, Ruben pointed out that it had been one month since God called Kevin home and that he was sure his brother was in Heaven watching over him like he did when he was alive.
“This picture makes me smile because I remember how proud I was as freshmen in high school to wear my big brothers [sic] number. So that the 72 tradition would continue another 4 years,” wrote Ruben.

Finally, the singer admitted that he loved Kevin and that he was and still is his hero. As soon as he uploaded that image, his fans and followers took to the comment section to share their thoughts.
One of them was Instagram for user Joyce Brown, who confessed to being sorry for Ruben’s loss and wished for Kevin’s soul to keep resting in peace. User Wendy Young added that the Studdards were in her prayers
On May 29, Ruben himself shared the news about his brother’s passing on social media by posting another photo of both of them smiling for the camera.
In the caption, the singer thanked God for giving him the best big brother ever as Kevin always had his back and locked out for him.
Apart from that, Kevin always told him what he needed to hear even if Ruben didn’t want to listen.
Even though it has been more than a month since Kevin passed away, the cause of death has not been revealed yet. Kevin was only 44 years old when he died, reported ABC News.
