Watch these dogs freak out over watermelon
These pups are enjoying a nice cool summer treat, and the footage of them doing so is just too adorable for words to properly describe.
With the summer heat in the Northern Hemisphere reaching new and uncomfortable levels, everyone is feeling the blaze. That includes man's best four-pawed friends, who are struggling with the their fur coats at this time of the year.
More and more, people are realizing that certain summer treats are healthy for the canine friends too. Watermelon is one such treat.
According to Trupanion, watermelon is one of those human foods that won't cause a dog harm, so long as it is consumed in moderation, of course. It is also best to avoid seeds and the rind, as these can cause digestive issues for pups.
This summer, videos of people feeding their pooches watermelon has taken social media by storm. Hundreds of videos of dogs of every breed have been posted to Instagram, and one thing is consistent throughout: Dogs love watermelon!
While some pooches are cautious, and take delicate little bites, others could half take their owners' arms off with the piece of fruit. Some of the pups even seem to climb into the fruit completely, while others require small bites at a time.
There were even fur-babies who used utensils to enjoy the sweet treat!
The trend started with Jenelle Bannister, who posted a video to her Twitter account of her gentle Collie taking the fruit so gently he could almost be human.
That post received almost half a million likes, and almost 160,000 retweets.

Since Bannister started the trend, others have decided to share their own pups eating bits and pieces of watermelon with utter delight.
As reported by Metro UK, other fruits and vegetables that are safe to feed dogs include apples, bananas, blueberries, and carrots.
