In the footage, captioned "Hottie Cam in thee MET GALA," Stallion is seen seated at a table with rapper Doechii and college basketball star Angel Reese.
The trio reacts in real time to the evening's dishes, beginning with cornbread and caviar. "I like it!" Doechii says, as Stallion adds, "I said it was good. She didn't believe me," motioning to Reese.

The menu also included white truffle lobster roll, vegan lox, curry chicken bites, and hamachi sushi. Doechii praised the lobster roll, while Stallion expressed less enthusiasm for the vegan lox.

Between bites, the video shifts to lighthearted banter — and a rule reminder. "We're not supposed to have our phones," Stallion says on camera. Tracee Ellis Ross, overhearing, chimes in with a laugh, "Not at all. Put your phone away."
Stallion then admits, "I snuck the phone inside," before sharing more candid clips from the event. "I'm not supposed to have this," she says, offering a look at the venue's setup.

The Met Gala, hosted by Vogue and held annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, enforces a strict no-phone, no-social-media policy once guests enter the venue.
As outlined, "Guests must abide by a no-phone (and, therefore, no social media) policy once they've entered the museum." This is intended to preserve the exclusive nature of the event and protect the privacy of its high-profile attendees.

Stallion's surprise video from inside the Met Gala emerged during a landmark edition of the annual benefit event. Held on May 5, 2025, this year's gala marked the launch of The Costume Institute's spring exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, hosted at The Met Fifth Avenue.
The exhibition runs from May 10 through October 26, 2025, and focuses on the cultural, artistic, and political impact of Black fashion from the 18th century to the present.
Organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the gala and exhibition are made possible by Louis Vuitton, with major support from Instagram, the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation, Africa Fashion International, and The Perry Foundation, among others. Additional institutional support came from Condé Nast.

This year's gala reintroduced a Host Committee alongside its main co-chairs. The event was co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as the honorary chair.

The Host Committee was composed of cultural figures across disciplines, including Usher, Sha'Carri Richardson, Angel Reese, Doechii, Simone Biles, André 3000, Regina King, Tyler Mitchell, and many more.
The exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, provides a detailed cultural and historical examination of Black sartorial expression through the lens of dandyism — a fashion philosophy blending self-expression, rebellion, and elegance.

The display explores how Black communities have used tailoring, textiles, and silhouette to challenge stereotypes, assert identity, and reshape mainstream fashion narratives.
Artist Torkwase Dyson created a series of monumental structures or "architectural zones," using her signature "hypershapes" to frame themes such as theatricality, reflection, scale, liberation, and transcendence. These structures allow visitors to interact with the deeper meanings of Black style across time.

Sculptor Tanda Francis contributed two large bronze-inspired mannequin heads, one of which features multiple silhouetted profiles emerging from a central form.
This piece draws inspiration from André Grenard Matswa, a Congolese revolutionary seen as a precursor to the Sapeur movement — a subculture that uses flamboyant fashion to assert individuality and resistance. Francis described the piece as a tribute to "protective styles" within the African diaspora.

Curator and artist Iké Udé added a dedicated section to the exhibition exploring his own body of work, alongside the life and influence of Julius Soubise, an 18th-century Black dandy known for his unique fashion and defiance of societal expectations in London.
Photographer Tyler Mitchell contributed imagery for the exhibition catalogue, including dynamic object photography and a visual essay capturing the bond and shared fashion sense of Black men across generations.

Chef Kwame Onwuachi, who designed the gala menu, expressed his excitement about blending culinary creativity with the exhibition theme. "Being a part of such an iconic New York institution for the most celebrated, star-studded night of the year is like a professional dream come true," he said.
The red carpet and overall event décor were shaped by Cy Gavin as creative director, with additional design contributions by Derek McLane and Raúl Àvila.

The dress code, titled "Tailored for You," encouraged attendees to interpret the theme with personal flair, focusing on suits, fabrics, accessories, and styles influenced by Black tailoring traditions.
Max Hollein, The Met's Marina Kellen French Director and CEO, described the gala as a "celebration of art and fashion" that highlights the lasting contributions of Black creativity to global culture.

"This spring's event will mark the opening of the exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, a profoundly scholarly show centering an important legacy of Black-led sartorial innovation and creative expression that continues to inspire and shape our world today," he stated.
Statements from members of the Host Committee reinforced this theme. Richardson emphasized, "Our style isn't just what we wear—it's how we move, how we own our space, how we tell our story without saying a word."

Usher added, "The theme this year is not only timely but also speaks to our rich culture that should always be widely celebrated."

As the exhibition continues, Stallion's post — while raising questions about Met Gala protocol — also inadvertently drew wider attention to a night designed to honor Black creativity and its lasting impact on fashion and identity.
