Besides being surrounded by family, the singer has seen a reverend and a fellow musician. According to People, her ex-husband also made it to see her.

The ailing Aretha Franklin, 76, was recently visited by Stevie Wonder and Reverend Jesse Jackson at her home in Detroit. Her longtime publicist Gwendolyn Quinn was the one who confirmed the news.

The man who was married to the Queen of Soul from 1978 to 1984, Glynn Turman, also paid her a visit.

“She is seriously ill and surrounded by family members who appreciate the outpouring of love and support they have received,” Quinn said.

On the same day, an insider close to the star spoke to the Associated Press. The source confirmed that Franklin was “seriously ill” but refused to provide any more details.

“I am so saddened to report that the Queen of Soul and my good friend, Aretha Franklin is gravely ill. I spoke with her family members this morning.”

It’s still not clear how severe the singer’s condition is nor the cause of it. A longtime friend previously shared that Franklin had been ill for a while.

“She did not want people to know, and she didn’t make it public,” the friend shared.

A reporter for Showbiz 411, Roger Friedman, was the person first to speak about Franklin’s ailing health.

Evrod Cassimy, a Detroit news anchor, has been in touch with the star’s family and even spoke to her on Monday.

Via Twitter, he shared, “She is asking for your prayers at this time. I’ll have more details as I’m allowed to release.”

The next day, he posted that he was “still praying” for the singing legend. Over the past years, rumors that Franklin has an illness have circulated but the star has remained silent about her condition.
