Police asks for help in finding missing 24-year-old woman

Kristen Ashley Bennett from Newport, North Carolina, went missing on August 14. She was last seen on foot near 950 Hibbs Road.

It’s been days since she’s gone missing and police are following many leads. They have asked the public to assist in finding her.

Last week Tuesday, Kristen Ashley Bennett, 24, left her residence on foot and was last seen at around 2 p.m. She never went back home and was reported missing.

She’s described as a Caucasian woman. Bennett is 5’3″ tall and 105 pounds with brown hair is brown and blue eyes.

She had an orange long-sleeved top over the tank top. Bennett was wearing jean shorts and black Nike shoes when she disappeared.

Very few details are said to be known about the circumstances of her disappearance. Her case hasn’t gotten much coverage due to her leaving on foot, but the circumstances behind her departure are vague.

A spokesperson for the Carteret County Sheriff's Office, Nick Wilson, said investigators were following many leads. He added that they were working hard to locate Bennett.

At this point in the investigation, they don’t believe there is a public safety threat. Investigators plan to consult with family members before launching any type of ground or air search.

Social media users have been assisting by sharing the Facebook post by the Carteret County Sheriff's Office. So far, the post has been shared more than 800 times.
