Faced with the possibility that a senior member of his administration may be in collusion with others to undermine his authority President Donald Trump erupted on Wednesday. In a situation that caused tension and anger, several aides and allies who are familiar with the President’s thinking described his mood as being “volcanic”.

Based on the contents of an article published in the New York Times a “Senior Administration Official” made a strong assertion that “a handful of appointees serving at the highest levels of the Trump administration, consider the president to be “amoral,” and on the precipice of dangerous decisions that could put the country at risk.”

This article comes in the wake of published excerpts of a forthcoming book by Bob Woodward. Not only does it include examples of the President’s own cabinet officials and senior aides who are not eager to carry out his orders, but it also includes them defying his commands and privately ridiculing him to others.

However, many of these accusations made by Woodward have been refuted by those he says revealed that information.

The President is now in search of the one who betrayed him. In his anger President Trump lashed out at the anonymous “Senior Administration Official” via Twitter.

He began by describing the New York Times as “failing”.

Then he described the writing and publication of the article as an act of “treason” by the unnamed Senior Administration Official”.

“Does the so-called “Senior Administration Official” really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source? If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!”

President Donald Trump, Twitter, September 5, 2018

Sources close to President Trump said that he was infuriated by the book and also by the anonymous opinion piece. More so they said that President Trump was infuriated by the betrayal of their unnamed colleague.

With tensions already high the questions on the minds of many may very well be, “What’s next for President Trump?” and “Will the identity of the betrayer be revealed?”
