In 2007, Pickler, 32, who gained fame as a contestant on the fifth season of "American Idol," took the stage at the CMA Awards.

During her emotional performance, Pickler took the crowd through her childhood after her mother left her when she was only two years old.

She sang, “I think about how it ain’t fair/That you weren’t there to braid my hair/Like mothers do/You weren’t around to cheer me on/Help me dress for my high school prom.”

Pickler was overcome with emotion near the final chorus. As the audience erupted in applause and cheering, she was sobbing through her lyrics.

Her mother has attempted to reach out to her since that emotional moment, as reported by Country Rebel.

Pickler’s mother also used the chance to opened up about domestic violence, which she blames for the lost connection to her daughter.

But the singer, who signed to 19 Recordings and BNA Records as a recording artist in 2006, has made it clear that there are a lot of riffs to be addressed and that her relationship with her mother has not seemed to develop since.

In a 2008 interview with People, Pickler said, “At that time I felt like, ‘Tonight I’m good enough?'”

“Why would she come out and ruin this special night? This is supposed to be one of the most magical nights of my life. And I worked hard for it.”

Pickler is now married to songwriter Kyle Jacobs, a country music songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, and pianist. She starred alongside her husband in the CMT reality series, "I Love Kellie Pickler."
