Jada Pinkett Smith shares 'dope candid' snap with daughter Willow at the beach
Jada Pinkett Smith recently celebrated her 47th birthday, and she’s looking more fabulous than ever, as proved in a recent candid photo she shared on Instagram alongside her daughter, Willow Smith. The pair has opened up about different topics like sex, self-harm, and grief on the “Red Table Talk.”
It was former “Hannah Montana” actor Moises Arias who captured the beautiful black and white photo that Jada recently shared to her Instagram, a day after celebrating her birthday.
The gorgeous pic depicts Jada and Willow sitting on a towel while on a beach, enjoying the sun and probably having an interest talk. Willow, 17, rocked a one-piece black swimsuit, and a towel on her hair, while her mother rocked her toned abs in a two-piece bikini and a pair of beach pants.
The pic, which looks like some retro image, enhances both women’s natural beauty, as they wore their bare faces while relaxing in each other’s company.
“When @490tx hits you with a dope candid,” Pinket Smith captioned the post.
Fans immediately flocked her comment section to share their thoughts on the artistic shot. “Willow looks so pretty, even when she’s talking! And Mrs. Jada, looking serene,” wrote one follower. And another added, “As a mother to a teen girl, I know how wonderful these moments are. Her hands resting casually on you, shows you’ve done everything right.”
Jada and Willow have a beautiful and unique mother-daughter relationship, and they have opened about it on Pinket Smith’s Facebook Watch show “Red Table Talk,” where the girls, joined by Jada’s mother Adrienne Banfield, have discussed a series of topics that can be considered taboo from the perspective of three different generations.
AN OPEN DISCUSSION ABOUT SELF-HARM
On their episode about loss and grief, Willow surprised her mother when she admitted that, at some point in her life, she was cutting herself.
When asked about the most significant loss she had experience in her life, the 17-year-old admitted: “I would have to say I honestly feel like I lost my sanity at one point.” She then went on to describe how, after the success of her single “Whip My Hair,” the pressure of creating and recording an album became too much for her.
“I was kind of just in this gray area of, ‘Who am I? Do I have a purpose? Is there anything I can do besides this?’ After the tour and the promotion and all of that, they wanted me to finish my album. And I was like, I’m not gonna do that.”
She continued:
“After all of that kind of settled down, I was listening to a lot of dark music, and it was just so crazy, and I was just plunged into this black hole, and I was, like, cutting myself and doing crazy things.”
Jada was not aware of her daughter’s struggles, as she asked “What? Really? When were you cutting yourself? I didn’t see that part? Cutting yourself where?” Willow then proceeded to show her mom her scars, assuring her that she was fine now and that she never talked about because she was embarrassed.
“I honestly felt like I was experiencing so much emotional pain, but my physical circumstances weren’t reflecting that," Willow said.
Jada seemed to be relieved that her daughter overcame her demons, but she was still clearly worried and perturbed by the revelation. Either way, Pinkett Smith and her daughter have become “mother-daughter goals” for many fans after the show.
They continue to shed light on different topics and social issues through their honest talks in front of the cameras.
