Young Malakai Paul looked nervous right from the start when he walked onto the stage of “Britain’s Got Talent” in one of its special episodes. But no one could have guessed the remarkable turnaround he was going to make from there.

The 9-year-old child, who participated in the show accompanied by his mother, was scared and nervous before the auditions even began. His mother was supportive of him and consoled him the best she could but they both were worried about his stage fear.

Malakai’s mother explained that her son is prone to nervousness and stage fright in front of an audience.

Before the audition began, she gave one hope to her song that ‘not one of the judges’ would buzz him, referring to the buzzer of rejection that the judges are allowed to press for horrible performances.

Despite all the words of encouragement, Malakai could not contain the pressure of standing before the live audience on the stage. He began singing Beyonce’s “Listen” meekly although he did give a little hint of his talent.

However, when he got to the latter part of the song, a more dramatic part, he could not continue anymore and quickly broke down in tears.

Realizing that her son was overwhelmed by the stage, his mother ran to him and hugged him comfortingly while sharing a few words of encouragement. Judge Alesha Dixon also joined the stage to console the young boy.

Malakai was then given another chance to perform and showcase his talent. The young boy pulled himself together and braced himself for yet another go at the Beyonce song.

The young boy made no mistake the second time around as he presented his remarkable singing talent with jaw-dropping brilliance.

When he concluded his performance, the entire audience rose to their feet to give him a standing ovation.

The judges praised the young boy for his performance. But, perhaps, the best compliment he received came from judge Simon Cowell, who is often regarded as the strictest judge on the panel.

However, he told the kid, “You got off to a bad start but you picked yourself up and people are going to like you a lot.”

True to Cowell’s remarks, the internet has loved the young boy ever since the video was first uploaded back in 2012. So far, it has been viewed over 45 million times and has gathered more than 300,000 likes.

However, following the broadcast episode, the reality show also gathered some criticism regarding its format because of the pressure and emotional stress it caused Malakai and other several participants like him, as reported by Mirror.

The article published by the source questioned the rationality behind selling the emotions of young kids for entertainment purposes.

We have time and again witness such remarkable talent who put up a great show despite their nervousness and shyness.

Just like Malakai, another 13-year-old boy stunned the audience with his rendition of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” during the audition of “The Voice Kids Belgium.”
