Taylor Swift Shares Untold Details About Her First Date with Travis Kelce — Their Relationship in 15 Photos
The "Love Story" singer is giving fans a closer look at her romance with the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, revealing a surprising question she asked on their first date, how her knowledge of football has evolved, and an update on her next album.
Taylor Swift recently revealed new details about her first date with Travis Kelce during her appearance on the "New Heights" podcast, hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce.
The singer recalled asking an unusual question about the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl match against the Philadelphia Eagles, specifically how Travis felt seeing his brother, Eagles center Jason, across the field.
"On our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and he looked across the field, across the line of scrimmage, and saw his brother standing on the other [side], like five feet in front of him on the field. And he didn't even look at me. I now know what an insane question that was," Taylor admitted.
The "Blank Space" singer then recalled what Travis told her at the time: "Actually, I'm on the offense and my brother's on the offense, and I'm only on the field at the same time as the defense."
Taylor admitted she was under the impression that all players were on the field at once, adding, "I thought it was Jared Goff is here and Josh Allen's here. And they blow a whistle, and they go at each other. And it's like, 'Who's going to win?'"
She shared that she initially knew little about football, including terms such as first down, chains, and tight end. Travis expressed his appreciation, saying, "I am forever thankful to you for diving into the football world wholeheartedly."
According to Taylor, she has since embraced the sport and was even the one to inform Travis that the Chiefs had traded up to draft Xavier Worthy in April 2024. "I fell in love with it. I became obsessed with it," she confessed.
She noted she now understands coverages like Cover 2, Cover 4, and Cover 0. "I'm not ready to be an analyst right now. But give me 16 months," she added.
Taylor also spoke about Travis' personality during the interview. "Just the way he could make me laugh so immediately about normal things. He's just a vibe booster in everyone's life that he's in. He's like a human exclamation point. When you take a picture on your phone and you push the enhance color button, that's what you do to everyone's life," she mentioned while looking at him.
She praised his non-judgmental nature, noting he never criticized her for her lack of football knowledge. Travis, who appeared equally happy and grateful to hear his praises, compared the experience to having a clean slate.
During the podcast, Taylor also announced that her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released on October 3, 2025. She explained that she wrote much of the record while on her Eras Tour, traveling to Sweden between European shows to record. The album cover shows the songstress in a diamond-covered dress submerged in turquoise water.
Their journey together, however, began well before this latest conversation. Back on the "New Heights" podcast on July 26, 2023, Travis revealed that he had once tried to give Taylor a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at one of her concerts.
"I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings. So I was a little butt-hurt I didn't get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her," he said at the time.
When his brother Jason asked whether the bracelet had his jersey number or phone number, Travis replied, "You know which one."
"She doesn't meet anybody, or at least, she didn't want to meet me, so I took it personal. But it was an unbelievable show," Travis added.
Not long after, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were romantically linked and have maintained their relationship since. Scroll down to see their journey together in 15 photos.
