Though Turner, who signed to MCA Nashville Records in 2003, is a modern country singer, he frequently pays tribute to the legendary singers that came before him.
In this instance, the "Long Black Train" singer paid his respects to country music legend Jones, who passed away on April 26, 2013.
Turner chose to take on one of the most emotional country songs recorded, “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”
Fans remained silent as his voice boomed throughout the venue. The crowd then erupted in applause and cheering when the singer belted out the final chorus.
The song, “He Stopped Loving Her Today," is one of the most defining moments of Jones, according to Country Thang Daily.
He was starting to be erased from the history books of country music as an icon in 1980 when he failed to have successful songs in six years.
However, both critics and fans were surprised when he released “He Stopped Loving Her Today” in the April of 1980.

In December 2001, Turner debuted on the Grand Ole Opry with the song "Long Black Train." He released his debut album, also entitled "Long Black Train" in 2003.
The album reached a peak of number 13 on the Billboard country charts and spent more than forty weeks. It also earned him a gold certification.
