Ro’Yale, the plus-size dance instructor also known as “Da Queen of Curves,” has done her best to redefine what “sexy” means in the world of pole dancing.

According to Journal Post, she took a couple of lessons about seven years ago and realized that she was very passionate about it, so she suggested the dance studio that there should be a pole dance class specifically for plus-size women.

Even though she was expecting her suggestion to be taken into consideration, Ro’Yale never thought that the dance studio would offer the position to her.

“I remember getting that email when I was offered a position as an instructor, I just remember screaming. I was very excited and actually shocked. They saw that I was passionate about wanting to bring something different to the studio that they didn’t already have,” admitted Ro’Yale.

REALIZING ITS DIFFICULTY

The woman pointed out that she thought pole dancing was easy. For her, it was just a matter of swinging around using the pole. She quickly noticed it was nothing like that, though.

To do all the poses and the most common tricks, people need a lot of strength and control of their bodies. With a lot of practice, everything became easier for Ro'Yale, thankfully.

DOING IT FOR SOME REASONS

Ro’Yale pointed out that there were a couple of reasons why she decided to become a pole dancer. The first one was because she was turning 30, so she wanted to do something fun.

Apart from that, she had separated from her husband, who later got back into her life, not too long before, so she “didn’t really know” who she was anymore. Pole dancing was exactly what she needed.

IS POLE DANCING ONLY FOR STRIPPERS?

Ro’Yale revealed that, before giving it a try, she thought that the activity was mostly something that strippers did for their performances. However, she met several women who were professionals in different areas and were taking classes just because it was fun.

NAMING THE CLASS

When Ro’Yale finally started working in Vertical Joes, the pole dance studio, they had to find a catchy name for her classes, and they found it: Vertical Voluptuous.

Fiya Starta, the CEO of the dance studio, revealed that Ro’Yale was sexy in a way that nobody could teach her. She can take any pole trick and add her personal sexy touch to make it better.

ANOTHER PLUS-SIZE DANCER

John Lindo is a dancer who has won several awards throughout his career. However, some people don’t think he can dance as good as he does at first sight.

During a dance competition a couple of years ago, he and his partner wowed the audience with their amazing performance, proving that dancing is not a matter of size but personality and hard work.
