Established in 1976, the inn carries a rich history that begins with the gifting of the hotel as a Christmas present, which gave the place its name as well as the year-round theme.

The property was used for a variety of purposes including as a jail, a church, a farmhouse, and a Cape Cod-style saltbox.

In 1933, a man purchased the property for his daughter and gave it to her as a Christmas present. Later, she sold it to a couple. They eventually turned the property into a hotel and it got its present-day Christmas ambiance.
