Michelle Obama stuns in white dress in recent pictures with Al Roker
Michelle Obama shares good news for girls all over the world as she stuns in a white dress during an appearance on the "Today Show." She was also treated to scene-stealing moments courtesy of the hosts' daughters as the show celebrated "International Day of the Girl."
It was "International Day of the Girl" on the “Today” show on Thursday and Michelle Obama took center stage. She graced the occasion looking stunning in a white dress as she posed next to Al Roker in photos he shared.
SCENE STEALERS
The show treated their audience to a delightful display of talented little girls but it was the daughters of Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Kelly Clarkson who stole the limelight. As Meghan Trainor performed, Savanna and Kelly’s four-year-old daughters, Vale and River Rose delighted the audience with an energetic dance showdown. Hoda’s one-year-old, Haley Joy tried her hand at hosting and introduced Al’s weather forecast. The adorable tot referred to him as “Al Koko.”
Carson Daly brought along his daughter London who hung on to her father. Jenna Bush Hager and her girls Mia, 5, and Poppy, 3, joined the outdoor festivities.
“This is quite a moment for our little girls. I don’t think they realize what’s happening.” Hoda said onstage.
GOOD NEWS FOR GIRLS
Michelle didn’t bring her daughters along but she did bring good news for girls around the world. She announced the launch of Global Girls Alliance. The initiative aims to empower girls through education. Michelle believes the key to solving relevant issues today is the education of women.
“The stats show that when you educate a girl, you educate a family, a community, a country.
“If we care about climate change, if we care about poverty, if we care about maternal child health,” she reiterated, “then we have to care about education.”
AL & MICHELLE
It was a memorable day for everyone at the "Today" show including Al. He commemorated his moments with Barack Obama’s wife in photos he shared on his Instagram.
Michelle looked lovely in her white wrap dress cinched at the waist by a belt. Her hair fell loose on her shoulders as she watched the happenings on stage from below. Al beamed standing next to the woman of the morning and gushed about his experience in his caption.
“It was an amazing #morning on @todayshow #plaza as former #firstlady@michelleobama celebrated #internationaldayofthegirl by announcing the @globalgirlsalliance as part of the @obamafoundation”
MICHELLE'S GIRLS
During her interview, Michelle also spoke about her own daughters Malia, 20, and Sasha, 17. She said they inspired her to work toward educating other girls.
"They're doing well. I'm so proud of them. They're some of the reasons why this issue means so much to me because I think about what it means for them to have their voice and to have come out of those eight years confident and poised.”
MARRIAGE TRIVIA
She also revealed an interesting fact about her marriage. When asked what about Barack drives her crazy, she replied,
"One of the keys to a successful marriage is separate bathrooms. When he enters my bathrooms, sometimes I'm like, 'Why are you in here?' And he's like, 'I live here. Can I enjoy my bathroom too?'"
It’s good to know the 26-year-old couple has its quirks too. Other than that, they’re the epitome of #marriage goals.
