Who is Theresa Caputo?

Theresa Caputo is a famous American TV personality who claims to have psychic powers. She is best known as a medium on the reality TV series, “Long Island Medium.” She is also an author and goes on tours where she holds live performances.

Early life:

Theresa was born on June 10, 1966, in Hicksville, New York, where she was also raised. Her mother is Veronica Brigandi and her father, Nicholas Brigandi, worked as a firefighter for the Fire Department of New York.

Theresa is mostly of Italian descent, although she has some English and Norwegian roots. There is some confusion surrounding Theresa’s actual date of birth. Her year of birth has been listed on different occasions as 1965, 1966, and 1977.

Career:

Theresa’s TV career dates back to 2011 when the reality TV series, “Long Island Medium” premiered on September 25. Theresa’s claims of being able to sense spirits and communicate with the deceased have been criticized in various quarters; from people to programs to print publications.

D. J. Grothe is reported to have called her a charlatan, and James Randi described her claims as false. In April 2012, Theresa received the James Randi Educational Foundation’s Pigasus Award, a sarcastic accolade given to parapsychological, paranormal, or psychic phonies.

A newspaper review criticized one of Theresa’s performances, referring to it as an "unbelievable experience," adding that "Caputo is a damn good performer, and she’s got undeniably likable sass and charisma." But the review ultimately doubted that she could speak with the dead.

Despite the skepticism trailing her craft, Theresa has authored two books: “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up: Life Changing Lessons from Heaven” in 2014, and “Good Grief: Heal Your Soul, Honor Your Loved Ones, And Learn to Live Again” in 2017.

She also co-authored “There’s More to Life than This: Healing Messages, Remarkable Stories, And Insight about the Other Side from the Long Island Medium” in 2013.

Personal life:

Theresa Caputo married her husband, Larry Caputo on September 16, 1989. The couple has two children: Larry Caputo Jr. and Victoria Caputo.

In December 2017, Theresa and her husband jointly announced their separation after 28 years of marriage. On June 27, 2018, Larry told the media that he and Theresa were getting divorced.
