Young Scotty McCreery sings a powerful song about Jesus with his mom at church
Before American Idol, Scotty McCreery had been stunning people with his talent.
In a video that surfaced in 2015, a younger Scotty McCreery can be seen sharing the stage with his mother as they sing a Christian song at a church on Easter Sunday.
The mother-son duo performed the song “New Again,” which country star Brad Paisley and Sara Evans recorded together for the Passion of the Christ soundtrack.
McCreery, known for wearing a cross necklace during his time on American Idol, has been vocal about his faith.

“I’m not ashamed [of my faith], but I know that everyone doesn’t agree with me,” he said in an interview. “I think especially in the country music world, if there’s anyone that’s going to accept it, it’ll be them.”
But he admitted that some people are put off when he shares about his faith. “When you’re out there talking about your faith and what you believe in, you’ll face some backlash,” he said. “But mostly, I’ve received support.”
A MILLION VIEWS
Many were impressed, however, with his duet with his mother at the church.
The video, uploaded to YouTube on April 5, 2015, has been viewed more than a million times.
“Beautiful duet from mother and son! Easy to see where singing talent comes from. And the voice from dad. Beautiful family,” one YouTube user commented.
“So beautiful and moving! It touched my heart on so many different levels--as a Christian, as a mother, as a supporter of Scotty, and as a friend of you and Judy. Judy did such a wonderful job---we all know that Scotty has an amazing voice, but Judy has a truly gorgeous voice as well! So clear and full and strong! (I just don't know how she did it without crying!)”, another user shared.
