Hair store owner filmed punching a Black mother in the face in viral video
April Harding was the victim of a physical attack from Changseok Jun, the owner of Ann & Jun’s Beauty Supply in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The woman got a busted lip that required three stitches.
In the video, which might disturb viewers due to the violence depicted, Harding, two small children, and another woman were in front of the store arguing with Jun. When the clip began, the man was seen walking backward.
At some point, Harding turned around and threw her hand up as a way to indicate that she was done arguing. Unfortunately, since Jun took a step forward, the lady brushed his shoulder, what made the man lose his temper.
He grabbed Harding’s arm, pushed it away, and punched her in the face with his fist tightly closed. The argument kept going for a couple of seconds and, after that, Harding was shown spiting blood to the ground.
When the camera pointed at Jun again, he was looking at his hand and shaking it off as a way to relieve his pain. The blood coming from Harding’s mouth and Jun’s final motion set clear how severe the punch was.
Tulsa Police Sgt. Shane Tuell pointed out that the incident began when Harding’s three-year-old son pocketed a $0.99 keychain without telling his mother. Even though they never took anything from the store as she immediately gave the item back, Jun followed them out to keep confronting her.
Jun was charged with assault and battery soon after the fight took place. Angry residents have launched a boycott of Ann & Jun’s Beauty Supply urging them to take their business somewhere else.
“For [Jun] to hit her is unacceptable. You’re taking the Black dollar, but you don’t trust us coming in to buy your product that is a creation of us,” said Cleo Harris, an organizer of the protest.
A SIMILAR SITUATION
While it is unacceptable, it is not the first time that a man gets violent against a woman in front of a store. In this case, the victim was Angela Jefferson, a student who was reading in a West Hollywood establishment.
A man, who seemed intoxicated, appeared swinging a metal rod trying to hit Jefferson, who thankfully dodged the attack. Another person stood between Jefferson and the attacker and managed to calm things down. The police showed up and said that if the aggressive man repeated her act, they would arrest him.
