However, in the footage, he was also very clear about the fact that he was against President Donald Trump. He informed fellow Americans that the administration has been lying to them about a number of things.

Carl Reiner, 96, the legendary creator of “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” recorded a video where he shared his own personal motivation for making it to age 98. The star wants to see President Donald Trump voted out of office in 2020.

In the clip, Reiner shared all the momentous experiences that he’s had over 9 decades. He revealed that he’d lived through the Great Depression, served in World War II to fight against fascism, and even lived to see the invention of the television while getting the opportunity to appear on it even before his “family owned one.”

“But what I’ve never seen is the American people being lied to every single day about everything. Lies about climate change. Lies about protecting Medicare and Social Security. Lies about Russia attacking our elections. Lies about protecting people with preexisting conditions.”

Reiner added:

“In my 96-and-a-half-years, I’ve seen a lot of things. But the one thing I cannot bear to see is America being destroyed by racism, fear-mongering, and lies.”

In the footage, he revealed that he wanted to reach 98 so he could see the kind of candidate they deserved:

“And after we’ve done that, my personal goal will be to stick around until 2020 and vote to make sure we have a decent, moral, law-abiding citizen in Washington who will make us all proud again to live in America.”

On Tuesday, Reiner’s son, director Rob Reiner, tweeted alongside the video:

“My father is 96 and a half years old. In his long life he has never seen anything like what’s happening to our country. I love him. And I want the country he fought his whole life for.”

Both Reiner’s are quite vocal about their disapproval of the Trump administration. The elder Reiner spoke against Trump for his appointment of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, his approach to foreign policy, and his response to Sen. John McCain’s death to name a few things.

On October 17, he tweeted:

“At 96 and 6 months I have an incentive to hang around [until] I’m 98 so I can vote for whoever runs against our fake President Trump.”

The two Reiner’s are among many celebrities who have asked people to go out and vote. Rihanna is one star including Taylor Swift who urged people in her home state of Tennessee to vote.
