Couple surprises wedding guests with incredible first dance mashup
A gay couple just gave themselves and their guests the time of their lives when they pulled off an epic first dance on their wedding day.
Noah Aberlin and PJ Simmons surprised their guests on their wedding reception by dancing to a medley of hits in what is now virally known as their mashup wedding dance.
In a video the newlyweds uploaded, they start off with a slow dance to Morgana King’s “It’s A Quiet Thing,” leading their audience to believe they were watching a traditional wedding dance. Not long after, the music cuts to Miami Sound Machine’s “Conga” and the crowd goes wild.
The couple delivered their power-packed choreography that included impressive moves to “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now),” “Vogue,” and “Puttin’ On The Ritz.” If that’s not enough, they concluded their performance with the iconic lift from the film “Dirty Dancing” to the tune of “The Time of My Life.”
Not only did Noah and PJ bring the house down during their performance, but their video earned more than 270,000 views. In a message to “Good Morning America” via e-mail, PJ gushed about the attention their dance had been getting.
"We are so moved that our silly 'prank' is getting so much attention. The responses we have gotten from all the social media outlets has been really emotional for us. We are extremely moved that it is bringing so many people so much joy!"
PJ added,
"We were blown away. We hoped it would get people excited, but the energy was off the charts as soon as the Gloria Estefan song started and people realized what was happening," Simmons said. "The most amazing part was people coming up to us afterward with tears in their eyes saying how uplifted and moved they were by it."
36-year-old Noah and 51-year-old PJ have been lovers for 10 years and used Noah’s background in dance to develop their routine. They revealed practicing for seven weeks to perfect it. They also collaborated with a salsa instructor and professional dancer to polish up.
FATHER AND DAUGHTER BUST SOME MOVES
Much like Noah and PJ’s iconic wedding dance, bride Mikayla Ellison and her father Nathan Ellison put on quite a show during their father-daughter dance. They started with the slow-paced song “Butterfly Kisses” but later broke out into a fast-paced number featuring a medley of songs including “Can’t Touch This,” “Party Rock Anthem,” “Jump On It,” and “Bye Bye Bye.” They even brought out sunglasses and wore them throughout their hip performance. Not to be leftout, the groom was by the sidelines mixing the medley of songs. Turns out the Mikayla is a trained dancer and it was her father who suggested they do something different. Check out how uniquely fun their dance turned out in the clip below.
