Serena Williams stuns in pink and black outfit in photo with her ex-boyfriend
Tennis superstar Serena Williams stunned in a pink and black casual outfit as she posed for the media with her ex-boyfriend, before leading a motivational conversation with him in front of a live audience.
Serena Williams and former boyfriend, rapper and actor Common, recently proved that exes can still be friends. The pair recently joined forces to attend a charity event in Chicago, where they talked in front of a live audience about their respective careers and lives and the secret behind their success.
TOGETHER FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Williams, 37, looked stunning in a pink sweater and black thighs. Her curly hair was pulled back in a high ponytail, and she kept her makeup as natural as possible. Common, on the other hand, also went for a casual vibe wearing a red jumper with khaki pants.
They posed together for the media with smiles on their faces, just before taking the stage on the Civic Opera House for their joint Creative Minds Talk, entitled “The Art of Storytelling: Serena Williams & Common.”
On the session, which took place on October 29, the pair touched on subjects like public speaking, philanthropy, activism, and entrepreneurship.
Part of the revenue from the tickets to the event were donated to the stars’ respective charities: The Common Ground Foundation and The Yetunde Price Resource Center, which was founded by Serena and her sister Venus.
SERENA AND COMMON’S PAST
Williams and Common had dated on and off for three years before the 23-times Grand Slam champion called off their relationship for good in 2010. However, the former flames decided to keep a friendly relationship, and Common even revealed in 2015 that the break up had been a mutual decision.
Speaking about Serena on “The Meredith Viera Show,” the 46-year-old explained:
“[With Serena], it was kind of a mutual break-up, but she initiated it. It’s okay though, we’ve got a great understanding, and I care about her as a person … so we can keep that friendship. It’s not like every person you talk to every other day, but you still have that respect, and you still have that love, and you want to see them do well.”
The rapper has publicly congratulated Williams on her tennis achievements in the past, and he has even quoted her on Twitter.
SERENA MOVED ON
Williams has moved on with her life in a grand manner. She found love with Reddit CEO Alexis Ohanian and is now the mother of 1-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia.
The tennis star has been entirely dedicated to splitting her time evenly between her career and her little family, training, playing Grand slams, and fighting umpires on the day and cuddling to her daughter whenever she has the chance.
There’s also all the events and awards she attends from time to time.
WALKING THE RED CARPET WITH HER HUSBAND
On Wednesday, Williams graced the red carpet of Adweek's Brand Genius Awards in New York City. She was int eh company of her husband, who was outshined by Williams’ beauty and outfit.
She rocked a low-cut dress that mixed a patterned fabric with silver sparkly sequins and completed the look with silver heels and dangling diamond earrings. Ohanian, on the other hand, looked handsome in a black suit, white t-shirt, and black tie.
Williams was one of the honorees of the night, as she received the 2018 Brand Visionary Award, which she received from Anna Wintour’s hands.
After the vent, Williams took to Instagram to share some pics of the night. She captioned a shot with Anna Wintour:
“Thank you for presenting me with this year’s @adweek Brand Genius Award, Anna.”
Fans went wild on the comment section, praising Serena and the famous designer and speaking about how good it was to see two of the most powerful women in the world in the same picture.
“Congratulations! It’s nice to have such a fabulous woman for ALL of us moms, working moms, and little girls to look up to!” - @mbqh58
“Two legends stand before me.” - @adrianver
“Too much power in one photo.”- @anita.tourinho
Serena told Adweek that she has learned how to turn negative attention into something positive for her and her business.
“I use it to promote messages that are affirmative, like ‘you are strong, brave, proud, great’ and all those things that I feel like I’m in a position to not only express playing tennis but can also be expressed in my fashion line and other products,” Williams stated.
