'The Brady Bunch' cast come together for an iconic reunion near a special place
The cast of the popular ‘70s series “The Brady Bunch” reunited at the North Hollywood home that served as the exterior for the series back then. Maureen McCormick and Christopher Knight recreated one of the classic scenes of the TV show, for their fans’ delight.
“The Brady Bunch” was one of the most popular series in the seventies, and it followed the adventures of a blended family with six kids. Last week, the now grown-up actors who gave life to the family, reunited for a special occasion thanks to HGTV.
Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy) visited the house that was used for the exterior takes of the series, revealing that they had never set a foot inside the home.
A TOTAL RENOVATION
HGTV purchased the house in August for $3.5 million after a bidding war against former NSYNC’s singer Lance Bass. They have set their new production “A Very Brady Renovation” on the move, and is set to premiere in September 2019.
The show will document the total renovation of the inside of the house to match the one of the original series, which was built at a television studio back then. The network plans to enlarge the house, adding 2,000 square feet. But they promised to make all renovations "without compromising its instantly recognizable street view."
According to the network, the renovations will include the living room's floating staircase, the green-and-orange kitchen and the kids' shared bathroom, staying true to the spirit of the Brady Bunch family home.
RECREATING ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC HOUSES OF TV
The members of the cast were recording for a walk-through of the house alongside HGTV’s stars Leanne and Steve Ford, of "Restored by the Fords," Jasmine Roth from "Hidden Potential," and Lara Spencer, of "Flea Market Flip."
HGTV programming exec Loren Ruch explained that everyone at the network is excited about the project because they will have the chance to create “one of the most iconic homes from many of our viewers’ childhoods.”
And added:
“It will be the first time in history that the house from all of our memories will be created in a real brick and mortar location. It is certain to be a trip down memory lane.”
THE 2018 VERSION OF A CLASSIC SCENE
Members of the cast were excited about their reunion, and all of them told Entertainment Tonight that every time they reunite the pick where they left. They’re like a real family that doesn’t have to share one bathroom.
Maureen McCormick, who gave life to the teenager Marcia, and Christopher Knight, who played her on-screen stepbrother Peter, took the time to make a photo that recreates one of the most, if not the most famous scenes of the series.
Maureen shared the pic on Twitter as a birthday greeting to Knight, and in it, she’s holding a purple football to her face with a surprised expression. Christopher stands next to her, also holding the ball but with a mischievous smile on his face.
The pic is a clear reference to the 1973 episode in which Peter is playing around with one of his brothers and accidentally hits Marcia’s nose with the ball. “Oh, my nose!” she screams, taking her hands to her face.
In the episode, Marcia was about to have a date with her crush, but after her nose gets swollen and purple, the boy’s turned off by her injury.
Knight had his birthday on November 7, so McCormick wrote on Twitter: “It was his birthday. I had to make him happy.” She also shared a throwback pic with the man, and captioned it: “Happy Happy Birthday To You Christopher Knight!”
Fans of the series are excited about the upcoming show and watching the "Brady Bunch" home come to life.
