Stephanie Hollifield, a mother from Georgia, took to Facebook to share the story about how a stranger taught her how to style her black daughter’s hair.

The proud mother adopted Haley, who is black, when she was just eight months old. Once the girl turned two, Stephanie realized that she knew little-to-nothing about combing and styling her hair.

Knowing how bad a mother can feel when she cannot do something as simple as styling her daughter’s hair, Stephanie sent out a plea to other black women on Facebook.

NOTHING WORKS

The proud mother admitted that she had done everything from using conditioner, oil, hot towels, no products, a lot of products, and so on, but nothing seemed to work as Haley still required “at least six minutes” of cuddles after the trauma of her daily hair.

The worst part of it is that her hair looks great “for about an hour or two,” but it gets tangled and clumpy again after that. Thankfully, Monica Hunter, another Georgia woman who has had three children so far, read her petition and considered that she could help her.

HER HERO

Monica went to Stephanie’s house with a bag filled with supplies to help the desperate mother and teach her the right way to do Haley’s hair. In an interview Monica had with Yahoo Lifestyle, she admitted that it was important to touch the girl’s hair first and see if it was soft or kinky, or if the coils were loose or tight.

A GRATEFUL MOTHER

“This lady, Monica Hunter, who I had never met in person before today, offered to come to my house and walk me through exactly how to style my daughter’s hair. By the time she left, I had a little more confidence in fixing my daughter’s hair, and most importantly I felt supported by my new friend,” admitted Stephanie.

As soon as the mother uploaded her story on Facebook, several people commented and shared it. At the moment, it has more than 9,000 reactions and almost 1,000 comments of people supporting and praising their friendship.

REAL LIFE RAPUNZEL

Haley and her mother are not the only people who became Internet sensations over hair as Frankie Cluney, a 32-year-old woman from Brighton, England, recently revealed that she has not washed her 6-foot-long tresses for almost 20 years.

The woman said that she stopped washing it when she was 13 because she hated. Frankie had to wait a long time for it to get dry. Apart from that, she added that her hair needed “very low maintenance” as all she does is combing it. It can take up to half an hour to detangle it, though, but she doesn’t do it every day.
