Faith Evans sings ‘His Eye Is On The Sparrow’ at Kim Porter’s funeral
Kim Porter was laid to rest in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia. Grammy winner Faith Evans singing “His Eye Is On The Sparrow.”
Porter was laid to rest during a star-studded burial service. During the service, Faith Evans paid tribute to her with a beautiful performance.
The Grammy winner belted out a heartfelt rendition of “His Eye Is On The Sparrow.” Her of the traditional hymn showed off her dynamic agility and gospelized technique.
Evans later revealed that she had sung the same song to honor another member of Diddy's family. She said she chose "His Eye is On the Sparrow" as her song of choice to honor Kim because she had previously performed the song in honor of Diddy's grandmother in the '90s.
When she returned to LA from Porter's funeral service in Georgia, she was asked how she was handling Porter's death. With pain etched in her eyes which she hid behind sunglasses, she said she is doing alright after her heartfelt tribute and an emotional ceremony.
Porter's memorial service was held at Cascade Hills Church. She was buried in a gold casket at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens cemetery alongside her grandmother and mother.
The ceremony was attended by approximately 1,200 to 1,500 people. The attendees included many celebrities.
Porter had been found dead in her Los Angeles home on November 15, 2018. She was 47 years old at the time of her death.
She had been suffering from flu-like symptoms for several weeks but her cause of death is currently unknown.
She lives on through her four children, Quincy Brown, Christian, 20, and 11-year-old twin girls D'Lila Star and Jessie James.
