'The View' co-host Joy Behar says it's 'a good day for Donald Trump to resign'
On Thursday, “The View” co-host Joy Behar celebrated her 20th anniversary on the show. She took a moment to address the idea that President Donald Trump should resign on the day.
The panelists were discussing the latest development in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation which saw Trump‘s former lawyer Michael Cohen pleading guilty to lying to Congress.
It was recently revealed that President Donald Trump‘s former lawyer Michael Cohen had pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about a potential Trump Tower in Moscow, Russia. “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin said the whole thing was playing out “like a soap opera.”
Joy Behar joked that they were on “The Apprentice” and trapped in the middle of the drama. Hostin stated that she felt Cohen had lied to Congress and the president had also lied to the American people about his finances.

Hostin responded:
“I think so. There will be. There will be negotiation documents. There could be tapes. When people lie to federal prosecutors, don’t they know the federal prosecutors don’t ask questions they don’t know the answers to already? They have the FBI working for them. They’re the best investigative tool in the world.”
Co-host Abby Huntsman figured that the investigation was asking questions they already had answers to. She further explained:
“That’s why not having [Paul] Manafort I don’t think is a huge deal for Mueller. It also sadly doesn’t surprise me that Cohen has lied to Congress and that Manafort, lawyers I mean Trump lawyers. These are bad guys. It’s not like he surrounded himself with upstanding citizens.”
"I made these statements to be consistent with Individual-1's political messaging and out of loyalty to Individual-1."
Seeing how all the evidence was slowly stacking up against Trump, Behar made a controversial statement. She said:
“Today is a good day for Donald Trump to resign. I really believe that.”
Amongst applause from the audience, she added, “That would be my gift… Donald, do it for me okay.” The ABC News program’s hosts often critique the Trump administration.
Last month, Hostin said she wouldn’t be surprised if the president had lied to the American people about a terror attack because he had "improper phone etiquette.”
Cohen previously said talks about the Moscow project had ended in January 2016 prior to the Iowa caucuses. However, he’s now said he lied about that out of a sense of obligation to Trump.
He stated:
"I made these statements to be consistent with Individual-1's political messaging and out of loyalty to Individual-1."
Individual-1 was identified in the court filings as Trump.
