Taraji P. Henson shares a handful of sweet throwback photos with NFL star fiancé Kelvin Hayden

Taraji P. Henson is basking in the bliss of being engaged, and she recently took to Instagram to delight fans with a series of throwback pics with fiancé Kelvin Hayden. Henson, who kept her relationship a secret for almost two years, recently revealed how she knew Hayden was The One.

The “Empire” star is in cloud nine after her former NFL star boyfriend popped the question last May, and she can’t stop gushing about him and their love all over social media.

In one of her most recent displays of love, Henson took to Instagram to share several pics with Hayden in different settings, and in all of them, she looks smitten. The first pic shows Taraji rocking braids and a patterned scarf, giving the camera a seductive look as she leans into her boyfriend, who was wearing a checkered scarf and a huge smile on his face.

In the pics that follow, Taraji and Kelvin pose in front of the sea, kiss in the stands of a stadium or cinema, smile happily in a fancy restaurant and share a bite and a drink with a cheeky expression on their faces.

THEIR LOVE STORY

Henson,47 and Hayden, 34 were first linked together in 2015, when they were caught holding hands while walking through the beach. However, neither confirmed or denied the relationship, choosing to keep their private life away from the cameras.

Last year, Taraji confirmed the relationship on Essence’s podcast “Yes, Girl” where she said:

“I'm happy in my personal life ... I'm not the type to blast my personal business. But, you know, I think that's important for people to know. I'm happy. I'm very very happy. I just am. And you know, we've been together for two years. No one would really know that because I don't really blast my info like that. But I'm very happy."

And this year on Mother’s Day, Taraji shared the big news of her engagement with a photo of their hands and her ring on the center of the pic. “I said yes Y'all!!!" she captioned the pic. "He started with the Cartier love bracelet BUT that was my #Mothersday gift and then he dropped to his knee and I almost passed out!!! #sheisofficiallyoffthemarket and she is sooooooooooooo HAPPY!!!!!! #GODIS"

KNOWING HE’S THE ONE

While many people expressed how happy they are for the “Empire” star, fans still wanted to know a bit more about her and Kelvin’s relationship. So, in her visit last September to the daytime talk show “The Talk,” Henson took the chance to gush about her man and revealed how she knew he was going to be the chosen one.

“I knew he was the one when we met but you know guys get goofy and crazy. And so we had this moment and I shut him down for four months,” she started. And continued:

“And he fought. I mean, he was relentless. He made three different emails. And you know ladies, have you ever broke up with a guy and you wish he’d come to the door and fight for you? He did it. And I said, ‘That’s the one.’”

Taraji also revealed that her friends constantly questioned her methods when it came to men, saying she was too “hard” on them. But the actress said she was just protecting her heart waiting for the one that will fight for it. And her efforts were worth it.

The lovely couple is planning to have a summer wedding next year, and according to Henson, it will be a small and private affair with their family and closest friends.
