Wendy Williams slammed after trying to persuade people to call Trump 'President,' not 'Mr.'
Wendy Williams, the TV host of a show called after her, was dragged after she complained about people calling Donald Trump “Mr. Trump” and not “President Trump.”
In the Hot Topics segment of “Wendy Williams Show,” the host addressed the A&E docuseries “The Clinton Affair.” The first episode of it displayed former President Bill Clinton’s infamous affair with his then-White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
While talking about it, Wendy called Clinton “President Clinton,” what made her remember something that bothers her about the way people call Trump.
“By the way, whether you like Donald Trump or not, I get tired of people calling presidents Mister. He’s not Mr. Trump. He’s President Trump. And you show it through your nastiness, newscasters when you do that. You might not agree with him, but he’s President Trump,” said Wendy.
Even though several people considered that her remarks were accurate, others took to social media to complain about it.
“The advice Wendy gives on her show is Ridiculous. It's almost as bad as her telling us to refer to Idiot Moron Trump as President Trump. How did she get a show? There are so many more ppl who are more deserving of a show [sic],” commented one user.
“And yet you say nothing to trump about getting on his job. The hypocrisy of it all. And for the record, newscasters have been using Mr. Forever. You had no problem with them referring to President Obama as just Obama. The hypocrisy of it all,” added a second one.
Here's the video of Wendy making the comments. It starts from the 17:20 mark.
It is not the first time that Wendy attracts a lot of negativity over Trump. In 2015, when POTUS was still a Republican candidate, the host admitted that she loved him. “He’s a friend to the show, and if he wins, that’ll be my first time ever going to the White House.”
She also told Inside Edition that if Trump runs the country the way he runs his family, then he has a chance. “[You] can't find any one of those Trump kids falling down drunk,” Wendy added.
The TV host is known for her controversial topics she addresses in her show. In early-November, she talked about Porsha Williams and her fiancée, Dennis McKinley, setting clear that she was not convinced they would get married.
According to the host, Porsha is more focused on the ring, the man, and the image of the marriage than on the relationship, which was the reason Wendy believes their romance wouldn’t last long.
During the “RHOA” episode released on November 4, Porsha appeared pretty much shoving an engagement down her boyfriend’s throat although they had been dating for only a few months at that point.
Apart from that, Porsha took Dennis to the same ring show she took her previous partner, something that Wendy considered a bad move. “If I were him, I’d be looking at her sideways, that she even allowed me to go into a store where her ex-man bought her a ring,” added the host.
