Social media users criticized Donald Trump for misspelling "smoking gun" twice in the same tweet after pertaining to how the Democrats have been trying to find a connection between Russia and the Trump campaign.

On Monday morning, Twitter users were in for quite a laugh when Donald Trump misspelled the same word twice in one tweet. The 72-year-old president shared his thoughts about a recent Fox News report, quoting a particular line from the article he was criticizing. However, instead of focusing on what the tweet was saying, people ended up noticing how he misspelled "smoking" twice.

His tweet quoted a news article that stated how the Democrats couldn't find a smoking gun that ties together the Trump campaign and Russia. Trump proceeded to say that this was the case as there was no collusion at all.

Instead of focusing on the subject at hand, people made his tweet a meme, making fun of the way he misspelled the word twice. People even asked if he knew if there was such a thing as "spell check", as it seems he spelled it that way deliberately.

This isn't the first time this month that people threw shade at Donald for his statements online, as he was criticized for the tribute he wrote for the late president George H.W. Bush.

Of course, Trump had nothing but kind words to say about Bush during his tribute, but people noticed a glaring irony in his message. It turns out that he used a famous quote from one of Bush's speeches, that he previously mocked during one of his campaigns.

“Through his essential authenticity, disarming wit, and unwavering commitment to faith, family, and country, President Bush inspired generations of his fellow Americans to public service — to be, in his words, ‘a thousand points of light’ illuminating the greatness, hope, and opportunity of America to the world.”

The phrase he chose to use, "a thousand points of light", is something that he mocked during a rally in July.

“You know all of the rhetoric you see. ‘Thousands points of light.’ What the hell was that, by the way? Thousand points of light. What does that mean? I know one thing: Make America Great Again we understand. Putting America first we understand. Thousand points of light, I never quite got that one. What the hell is that? Has anyone ever figured that one out? It was put out by a Republican, wasn’t it?”

Of course, people made sure not to let this pass, saying that it's clear that Trump does not write his official statements, thus not making his editor know that he once mocked the same statement that they just wrote about.

It seems he might need a proofreader for his personal Twitter account again, now that he is being criticized yet again for something he wrote.
