HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB BARKER

Barker hosted CBS's "The Price Is Right" from its inception in 1972 up until his retirement in 2007. This makes him the longest-serving game-show host in the longest-running daytime game show in television history.

As well as being the face of the show for 35 years, Barker was also the longest-serving host of the Miss Universe and the Miss USA pageants, from 1967 to 1987.

AN ACCIDENT IN 2017 COMPROMISED HIS HEALTH

Although Barker has always been an active and energetic man, the nonagenarian suffered an accident in 2017 which left him with chronic back pain. This issue has compromised his health and mobility with recurring bouts of acute pain.

TWO HOSPITAL VISITS IN THE LAST MONTHS

On November 18, Barker was rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital by ambulance from his Hollywood Hills home suffering from severe back pain, and he was released after two days, in time for Thanksgiving.

This incident followed a similar visit to the hospital on October 22, and stemming from the same root cause. Thankfully, Barker seems to have recovered from the incident, and he looked happy and healthy as he celebrated his birthday.

AN INJURY RESULTING FROM A FALL LAID BARKER LOW

Bob Barker's recent visits to the hospital are the result of an injury he sustained from a fall in his home in 2017. This followed a similar incident in 2015 when the game-show host fell during a morning walk near his Hollywood Hills home.

Barker seemed to have bounced back from his 2017 fall, but in late October his housekeeper called an ambulance when the game-show host woke up with intense back pain.

His second visit to the hospital in November worried fans, who saw it as a sign of his advanced age and fragility. Those fears have now been allayed by Barker's cheery demeanor and patent good health.
