Tamera Mowry posts heartbreaking tribute to late niece who died in Thousand Oaks mass shooting
Tamera Mowry shares a touching tribute for her slain niece as she laments her absence this holidays season.
It’s been over a month since Tamera Mowry’s niece was tragically killed during the Thousand Oaks massacre. And yet her absence rings even louder today as Tamera realizes the late Alaina Housley won’t be coming home for the Christmas break as she usually does.
"...selfishly I want you here with me"
FEELING THE VOID THIS CHRISTMAS
Tamera took to her Instagram to commemorate the day that Alaina was scheduled to come home to her family to spend the holidays with them. Sadly, that’s not going to happen.
“Alaina. God we miss you. Yesterday you were supposed to come home,” Tamera wrote to begin to her touching tribute attached to a photo of Alaina with her 6-year-old son, Aden.
“The questions of why consume my mind. But I must hold on to the fact that our Lord is sovereign. The reality of you not being here hits stronger today.”
Tamera continues to enumerate the things she misses about Alaina including her giggles, her smile, and the way she reacts to hearing something crazy. She also recalled Alaina’s love for her cousins, Tamera’s daughter Ariah and son Aden.
“I miss the way you would so gracefully scoop up Ariah and Aden, and the way you took their hands and walked away to play.
“You had a heart pure with love and kindness. Oh what this world needs more of now.”
Tamera ends her message by telling Alaina how much she’s loved and missed.
“My children loved you. I loved you. I know I have a guardian angel with me now. But selfishly I want you here with me. Until we meet and sing again.”
A STRANGE COINCIDENCE
Ironically, Tamera learned that the day she shared her tribute was also the 6thyear anniversary of another tragic event, the Sandy Hook shooting which occurred in Newtown, Connecticut. She also paid tribute to the families of victims of senseless crimes such as this at the end of her caption.
“Praying for the families and individuals who have had to endure and survive senseless gun violence. The world moves on. We don’t.”
A BITTERSWEET CHRISTMAS
Christmas will surely be bittersweet in the Housley household with the absence of Alaina. But Tamera is doing her best to celebrate happy Christmas moments with her family. One such moment she captured on Instagram was of her son Aden decorating their Christmas tree.
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,” Tamera wrote as she shared images of her son delighting in adorning their Christmas tree.
More recently, she shared a throwback photo from several Christmases ago where she and her husband Adam Housley and a still baby Aden posed in the snow. Tamera was evidently excited about the snow and asked her followers to caption the photo for her.
Here’s hoping Tamera can still find it in her to be as happy as she is in this old photo this Christmas, knowing there’s someone their family they’ll be missing this year.
