This is the heartbreaking moment a dog tried to jump back into the car after his owner abandoned him by the side of the road.

On December 17, around 5 PM, CCTV captured footage of a vehicle pulling up at the corner of Timor Grove and Pacific Road, Trentham, according to StokeonTrent Live.

The clip shows a man coming out from the passenger side of the car, a dog bed and Staffordshire Bull Terrier in hand. After pacing the bed by the side of the road, the man takes off the dog’s leash and races back into the car.

The troubled dog dashes his owner, but he is too late. He circles the car more than once, jumping at the window on both sides to get their attention. Even after the car pulls away, the canine buddy still tries to catch it. It is indeed a disheartening scene to watch.

A passerby saw the abandoned dog and called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).

RSPCA inspector Natalie Perehovsky has now appealed to the public for any information about the individuals responsible for the cruel act.

“The footage has to be seen to be believed, it’s just awful. To see the poor dog in such obvious distress jumping up at the car as it drives away it just heartbreaking. I can’t understand how someone could do this,” she said, adding:

“Anyone who recognizes the vehicle, the dog or the men in the footage can contact me in complete confidence.”

Perehovsky continued to condemn the inhumane act while detailing all the measures that have been taken to trace the perpetrators and care for the abandoned dog, now named Snoop.

“The footage has to be seen to be believed, it’s just awful. To see the poor dog in such obvious distress jumping up at the car as it drives away it just heartbreaking. I can’t understand how someone could do this. …The vets scanned his microchip and we have traced two previous owners in the Birmingham area, but do not believe either are the current owners and therefore not those responsible for abandoning the dog.”

"He’s currently being cared for at a private boarding kennel where he will get all the care he needs whilst I investigate further,” she added.

ANOTHER ABANDONED DOG GETS RESCUED

Earlier this year, Hope For Paws, a non-profit animal rescue group, also shared the story of an abandoned dog they rescued and named Al Capone.

Luckily for the dog, he found help in just the nick of time. He had been carrying a tumor in his belly for the longest time, and if not for the timely intervention of the organization, could have caused irreparable damage.
