Cow gave birth after escaping from a moving cattle truck on its way to the slaughterhouse
A pregnant cow saved herself and her baby after escaping from a truck bound for the slaughterhouse.
The cow, named Briana, gave birth to her calf at a sanctuary where she was brought to after escaping from a moving cattle truck in New Jersey, as reported by Fox 19.
“I got the rescue truck and headed out. When I got there the police had corralled her off the highway and on to a small road where they got a strap round her neck."
Briana ended up at the Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Wantage after being chased by police along with an interstate following her escape. The incident caused a traffic jam.
The cow had jumped off the moving truck, jumping eight feet above the ground.
A SURPRISE BIRTH
Mike Stura, the owner of the sanctuary, said Briana’s delivery two days later came as a surprise.
“No, I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. But things happen on their own time, right?” he said.
He added that Briana’s calf, named Winter, is the first bovine to be born at the sanctuary.
Stura, 52, brought Briana to the sanctuary after getting a call from one of the responding police officers who happen to be his friend.
"He said there was a cow running down a big highway out here so I hopped into action,” he said.
“I got the rescue truck and headed out. When I got there the police had corralled her off the highway and on to a small road where they got a strap round her neck."
COW DELIVERS QUADRUPLETS
In another bizarre story, a cow in Minnesota gave birth to healthy quadruplets and survived the dangerous childbirth.
According to veterinary records, the chances of a cow having quadruplet calves is one in more than 11 million.
Jamie Beldo, the owner of the farm, shared the story of his cow’s incredible childbirth on social media and it quickly went viral.
He stated that it was the first time a cow delivered quadruplet claves in the farming history of the Beldo family.
