Wendy Williams's team announced to fans that she will be taking an extended break to recover from recent health issues.

The talk show host's Instagram account as well as "The Wendy Wiliams" Show website released a statement with the news.

They explained that Williams' existing grave disease, coupled with a shoulder injury she incurred in December, led to the decision.

The statement began:

"As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend. Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment."

Williams, 54, has been battling the autoimmune disease for 19 years now according to Shared. It causes hyperthyroidism and produces symptoms like bulging eyes.

The statement further read:

"Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital. Despite her strong desire to return, she is taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical well-being."

The condition was brought to light by the former radio host back in 2017. At the time, Williams fainted while live on air as she stood in a Halloween costume onstage.

The shoulder fracture had already put Williams out for four weeks. Now, complications from the disease are leaving fans concerned.

Back in December, fans were also taken aback when Williams stuttered profusely during a segment. She later apologized for the quality of the show.

She explained that it was caused by some painkillers she took that day for the fracture. She said she would take time off and come back better in 2019.

In the Instagram she shared, she explained:

"In the key place where the fracture is, and trying to scurry around and do too much. I am now paying the price. I've never taken a pain medication in my life until this week. I did that to power through and try to deliver a great show for you, against the better judgment of the many people around me who genuinely care for my well-being."

While fans await Williams' return, they can view repeat episodes throughout this week. On January 28, temporary hosts are set to cover new episodes until the Williams is able to come back.
