Meghan Markle, 'avocado whisperer,' making brunch for the friend who created her wedding look
The Duchess of Sussex, though pregnant, is still able to host her friends to a sumptuous meal. Megan Markle seems to have settled in nicely to her new life as a royal. Even with her very tight schedules, she was able to entertain friends by whipping up a delicious meal.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Daniel Martin, Megan’s friend, and makeup artist posted a picture of their meal, which comprised tea, avocado toast and what seemed like chocolate truffles. The caption read:
"Back to our Tig days...❤️Thank you Meghan for being the consummate hostess this weekend and still being the #avocadotoast whisperer, YUM! ??♂️ ??☕️ #foodie #foodiegram"
Daniel also posted a video on his Instagram story where he wrote:
"Weekend in London with my M."
He and Megan have been longtime friends. The makeup artist was responsible for her wedding day glam, making sure she looked both elegant and natural for her big day. Martin also made Megan up for two other events: the RAF centenary flyover and the British Fashion Awards last year.
The former Suits actress is a self-proclaimed foodie. Before marrying Prince Harry, Markle operated a lifestyle blog called The Tig, where she shared personal recipes.
In September last year, she launched a charity cookbook to support a kitchen which catered for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.
The brunch with Martin is a way for the Duchess to have some chill time after a packed week of royal duties. She had visited the Mayhew animal charity and traveled to Birkenhead with Harry and also attended the performance of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem at the Royal Albert Hall.
For the first time since Megan joined the royal family, she donned a dark, berry lipstick when attending the Cirque du Soleil performance, letting go of the usual neutral colors she has been wearing. And although royal women don't wear anything other than light pink, Megan wasn’t breaking any royal protocols.
Myka Meier, royal etiquette expert and a former member of the Queen’s household explained that the Duchess changed her looks when she joined the family.
"We’ve seen her in the past in red lips, and now we don’t. She’s wearing that light, neutral pink that is favored in the palaces and other royals."
He, however, confirmed that other colors aren’t precisely taboo.
"She’s totally fine to wear whatever makeup she feels is appropriate for the occasion. And I think we still will see her in the future playing with a little bit more color," Meier confirmed.
