On Monday, NBC launched its Season 16 promo for “The Voice.” The short clip featuring three returning judges and a new one revealed that the long-standing judges were threatened by the latest addition.
Musician John Legend was seen upstaging and stealing the show from the older judges in a hilarious skit. The long-term coaches shared that they were “worried” about the new competition.
John Legend is set to be the new judge on “The Voice” alongside Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Kelly Clarkson. For the past two seasons of the show, Clarkson has come out the winner.
The new promo for the upcoming season showed Levine, Shelton, and Clarkson gathering together to discuss Legend's vast musical experience. Levine asks the other judges, “What are you guys worried about?”
Clarkson then mentions Legend’s credentials stating, “I mean, John’s an Emmy winner, a Grammy, Oscar, Tony — it’s a lot.” Calmly Shelton adds, “I’m not worried!”
Backstage, the three judges come across a giant keyboard and Levine gives it a try. He merrily announces to his fellow coaches, “Oh my God, I love these” as he begins to play Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me.”
Both Shelton and Clarkson join in as Legend walks up. He asks the group, “You guys sound pretty cool, mind if I jump in?”
The three oblige and as soon as Legend starts showing off his skills they instantly regret their decision. Shelton comments to his teammates “Should have seen that coming.”
Reality hits the three judges as Clarkson replies, “Now I’m worried.” The new judge was announced in September and he will be replacing Jennifer Hudson as the fourth coach.
A new season of “The Voice” will return to NBC for on February 25 at 8/7c.
Fans of Legend will be surprised to hear that his favorite way to unwind is by drinking a glass of Cabernet with his wife, Chrissy Teigen while watching TV. She would have control over the remote and the couple indulges in any show on Bravo.
