Beyoncé wishes Oprah a happy birthday with childhood photo of the media mogul rocking ponytails

Beyonce unearths an old photo of Oprah Winfrey to greet her on her 65th birthday. A schoolgirl Oprah sported pigtails in the pic.

Oprah Winfrey turned 65 on Tuesday and among her many well-wishers was Beyonce who paid tribute to the entertainment mogul by sharing a throwback photo of her.

Oprah sported pigtails in the pic that dates back to her grade school days revealing a young, fresh-faced girl wearing a white top and a camel-colored vest. Her braided pigtails were held together by tiny white ribbons.

“Happy birthday Oprah,” Beyonce simply wrote beneath the photo which appears to have been taped to a black background.

This is the second time Beyonce greeted the OWN founder with a throwback pic. When Oprah turned 61, the singer also shared a childhood photo of the star standing on an open field and wearing white sunglasses.

Beyonce’s fondness for posting childhood photos as a birthday greeting also extended to Michelle Obama when she paid tribute to the former first lady on her recent birthday. Just last week, she unearthed a photo of a young Michelle wearing a giant white bow on her head to match her frilly white dress. She was carrying a white lace-trimmed basket with her gloved hands prompting the songstress to caption the pic, “Bow Down.”

But it’s not only Beyonce who uses throwback photos as a birthday greeting. In fact, the tables were turned on the concert queen when her mother, Tina Knowles, shared an old photo of her during her 37th birthday in September. Tina proudly flaunted a 4-month-old Beyonce wearing a pink dress and sporting short curls as she penned a message raving about her daughter’s brilliance.

“Sometimes I can’t believe out of all the incredible people in the world i was chosen by God to be your mom,” Tina lovingly wrote.

Beyonce and Tina have a close relationship which extends to Beyonce’s sibling, Solange Knowles. Tina is also very close to Beyonce’s children, especially her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy. Blue would often be featured in Tina’s Instagram capturing their special moments together. In a few years, it will be the 7-year-old’s turn to be greeted on her birthday with a throwback pic
