Twitter reacts to Cardi B’s unusual Grammy outfit that required multiple people to help her walk
Cardi B, who became the first solo female rapper to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, put on a very peculiar outfit for this year’s Grammy ceremony.
The 26-year-old lady chose a Thierry Mugler Couture from the autumn/winter 1995 collection that was worn for the first time by Simonetta Giarfelici.
The pink and black ensemble attracted the attention of many, especially when they noticed that her husband, Offset, and four more people had to help her walk because of how uncomfortable the gown was.
PEOPLE’S REACTION
As soon as the photos of her dress hit the internet, people took to social media to share their thoughts. Several users made fun of it, comparing it to coffee filters and oysters.
Others pointed out that it was like the rapper had come out a “The Little Mermaid” sing-a-long, and that the crown-like accessory she put on looked like a Ferrero Rocher pyramid.
Even though several people made fun of Cardi B’s outfit, many others praised her for choosing a vintage dress and even labeled her as “iconic.” Backlash or not, the rapper didn’t go back home empty-handed as she won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
CARDI B’S AWARD
Apart from Cardi B’s “Invasion of Privacy,” the rest of the nominees for the category were Travis Scott’s “Astroworld,” Mac Miller’s “Swimming,” Nipsey Hussle’s “Victory Lap,” and Pusha T’s “Daytona.”
Once she was on stage receiving the award, she gave a very emotional speech while fighting back the tears and trying to stay as calm as possible. After thanking “everybody that was involved,” Cardi B talked about her daughter Kulture and the impact she had on the album.
The proud mother pointed out that, when she learned she was pregnant, the album was not even close to being finished as it had only three songs finished. The rapper realized that she had to work even harder to finish the 13 tunes and even shoot the videos before her belly started noticing.
Even though those were “very long nights,” Cardi B managed to get it done just in time and, due to her efforts, she got seven nominations and a Grammy Award.
THE LADIES WERE THE BIG WINNERS
The protagonists of this year’s edition of the Grammys were women as they won most of the show’s biggest categories.
Kacey Musgraves, for instance, took home four awards, including the Album of the Year and Best Country album thanks to “Golden Hour.” H.E.R, on the other hand, won Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance. Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga also won some Grammys.
