Man Repairs Couple's Broken Heat for Free and Gets a Huge and Well-Deserved Surprise

A man named Joshua Matthews fixed Stacy and Josh Lemonds' heat at no expense to them and received a surprise from the thankful couple.

Stacy and Josh, from Oklahoma City, returned home in the dead of winter to discover their heat wasn't working. It was freezing cold, yet there wasn’t much that they could do about it.

"I have something for you. Thank you so much for taking care of our electric. We appreciate you, so we have $400 to pay it forward for you."

They reached out for help from the electric company, but after removing their meter, the company told them that it was a flame risk because of the state of the wires.

Stacy and Josh were disallowed from reconnecting their electricity until it was fixed and inspected once more.

DOWN ON THEIR LUCK

All they could do was pray since they were struggling with funds and didn't have the means to make the necessary fixes due to both of them being out of work at the time.

Stacy and Josh decided to contact their church marriage group and ask for some collective prayer. In return, a man named Joshua reached out to them privately.

Having met Joshua through their marriage gathering, the couple had bestowed kindness on him in the recent past when Stacy and Josh had brought some warm meals to his home after learning of his wife's illness.

Little did they know that this selfless act of kindness would be returned so soon.

HELPING HAND

Joshua, who was working as an apprentice with Dane Electric, offered his expertise to Stacy and Josh, spending many days and nights in the cold working tirelessly to repair their heat.

In the end, Joshua and Dane Electric were able to get the couple's electricity back up and running. The company also took the project on as a charity case.

PRESENTING JOSHUA WITH A WELL-DESERVED SURPRISE

Days later, Dane Electric sent Joshua back out to Stacy and Josh's home for a fake "reinspection," so Stacy could give him a $400 Pay It 4Ward honor from First Fidelity Bank.

Joshua, who has finished two tours in Afghanistan with the 45th Infantry Division, was stunned when he walked through their door and was welcomed with this immense surprise from Stacy.

With tears in her eyes, Stacy said, "I have something for you. Thank you so much for taking care of our electric. We appreciate you, so we have $400 to pay it forward for you."

"You don't have to do this," Joshua answered. But Stacy insisted that they wanted to give something back, and embraced him.
