Boy Commits Suicide Because of Bullying at School; His Classmates Honor Him with Balloons

As much as teachers and parents may try to uplift children, their efforts are not always enough. This was the case with one boy who unfortunately ended up taking his own life.

Michael Martin, a 13-year-old high school student, recently committed suicide. This follows continuous bullying on the bus and at school.

Michael’s mother, Joanna, and stepfather, Joe, had to leave for work before he had to catch the bus every morning. Therefore they could not monitor whether or not he got on the bus.

BUS BULLIES

According to Joanna, the bullying began last fall. Because most of it took place on the bus, Michael often skipped school, unless his mother or stepfather were there to make sure he got on the bus.

He attempted suicide last month and was taken to Sparrow Hospital. He passed away two days later. His mother had asked the school district for help several times but to no avail.

When speaking about the school’s lack of action Joanna said:

“I know that some schools are overwhelmed with kids, but if you have a parent that’s reaching out to you, and trying to get help for their child, why wouldn’t you reach back? Why wouldn’t you do something?

TRAGIC TWO

Two 11-year-old girls from North Dakota, Madissen Foxx Paulsen and Sophia Leaf-Abrahamson, were inseparable best friends who called each other ‘girlfriend.’

The tween girls committed suicide within months of each other. It is believed that this happened because they did not receive acceptance from their peers in regards to their sexuality.

Madissen was the first of the girls to commit suicide, which she did use her father’s shotgun at her family home. Sophia followed two months later by hanging herself in her parent’s house.

Their parents were devastated to only learn after their deaths that Madissen and Sophia were being bullied by their peers at school for their sexuality.
